The self-styled Jesus Army is an Evangelical/Charismatic religous movement ("Christian") incorporating the New Creation Christian Community, where the members live in communal households and share their income in a 'common purse' arrangement.
Many people, especially in the Midlands, will recognise them by their colourful combat-style uniforms and equally garish double-decker buses. These double decker buses are used by Jesus Army zealots to roam the country in search of converts
Over many years, this site has been a facility for anyone wanting to find out a bit more about them from the perspective of an ex-member who has kept track of what they have been up to and how they have changed!

With much regret, I'm afraid that this site will no longer be updated!

I have been hoping for well over a year (maybe two?) to complete a series of articles that I've been writing about the Jesus Army. Unfortunately, I have concluded that - after over 25 years of opposition - it's best if I 'call it a day' rather than constantly struggle to find the necessary time and feel guilty for failing to do so.
(For those interested, I have been working hard to promote the benefits of wind farms as an essential ingredient of our collective effort to tackle climate change and am frequently out and about on the campaign trail with my colleague, Richard Claxton. Richard and I are directors of our own company, Green Campaigns Ltd. (www.greencampaigns.co.uk)
I'm also the 'area networker' for the local Greenpeace group in Newcastle, and a keen member of Durham Jugglers and Elvet Striders. As if all this wasn't enough, I also have a family...but it helps that my three children are each grown up and essentially idependent!)

I will leave the content of the site intact for the time being, and will endeavour to ensure that useful links are maintained. I have formed strong links with many family members and ex-members whilst the site has been operational and have greatly valued these freindships. I remain more than happy for people to contact me (see below) and will try to help in whatever way I can.
